III.
To study foreign languages is not an easy thing to do.
To think of it was a great pleasure for me.
To be loved afforded her a feeling which was impossible to describe. -
It is necessary to be there on time.
My aim to enter to the University. -
She was not easy to deal with.
They decided to go to the theatre and to see the play. -
She found it hard to explain. -
He can speak English very well.
You have to be at the meeting.
She intended to visit you.
Children begin to go to school at the age of 7.
The baby continued to cry.
She stopped to visit that club.
I have no time to speak with you.
I have nobody to discuss this problem with.
She was the first to have recognized him.
Captain is the last to leave the sinking ship. -
I have a little daughter to look after.
He is not the man to be deceived. -
В данной функции инфинитив часто вводится в предложение союзами in order, so as
To know English well, I had to study for many years.
She took her umbrella so as not to get wet. -
She had to get up early in order to catch the train. -
He is clever enough to understand your intentions. -
I was too tired to pay attention to anything. -
She was so upset as to be unable to utter a word. -
She is such a fool as to believe him.
В этой функции инфинитив вводится в предложение при помощи союзов “as if”, “as though”.
She looked at him as if to warn about something. -
She left the village, never to come there again. -
To tell the truth, I hadn’t recognized you.
He was rude, to say the least. -
