Idiomatic expressions

A busman's holiday – time away from work that is spent doing something that is similar to your usual job, e.g. Going to the beach is too much of a busman's holiday for him – he's a lifeguard!

The travel bug – a strong desire to travel

To be bitten by the travel bug (idiom) – a kind of a cute way to say when someone begins to want to travel. After the "bug" bites you, you will really want to travel.

To be in the comfort of (one's) own home – to be at home, in a familiar or comfortable place

To cost an arm and a leg – it means "very expensive" Example: I'd really like to go on a cruise around the Mediterranian, but they all cost an arm and a leg.

To have mixed feelings about something – to be uncertain, e.g. I have mixed feelings about package tours.

To keep an eye on someone or something/have an eye on someone or something/keep one's eye(s) on someone or something/have one's eye on someone or something – Fig. to watch someone or something; to monitor someone or something closely. Will you please keep your eye on my house while I'm on vacation?

Happy hour – A period of time, usually in late afternoon and early evening, during which a bar or lounge features drinks at reduced prices.
