Development of Competencies by Means of Heuristics

Y. Dzhagarov

(Novosibirsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering)

Nowadays, a specialist is challenged with the necessity to tackle problems which have never been solved in the past and have not been solved at present. Therefore, the concept “Competence” should imply the ability to handle tasks effectively. One of opportunities to gain knowledge and skills to be able to solve problems in an alternative way is heuristics which represents a complex of theoretical and practical resources for appropriate thinking. However, studying heuristics as an independent discipline proved to be inefficient because “Heuristics” cannot be studied as an independent discipline. Integration of methods of heuristics with such fundamental disciplines as mathematics, physics and information science will make it possible for a student to master both the disciplines mentioned above and heuristics methods of solving alternative problems. The knowledge gained through reflection mechanisms will be used in other spheres, thus proving the competence of a specialist.
