PROCEDURE:
(1)Pilotage Is compulsory for vessels over 500 GT.
(2)Notice of ETA: Vessels should send ETA 24h and 12h in advance.
(3)Vessels over 500 GT must contact Port Control on VHF Ch 12 at least 2h before arrival at the landfall Point (LP) (37°32'·00N1°00'·00W),and advise the following information:
(a)Vessel'sname
(b)Call sign
(c)ETA at Cartagena
(d)Maximum draught
(e)last port of call
(f)IMO freight (yes/no)
(4)Port Control will advise traffic conditions and mooring/anchorage instructions, and will inform vessels to proceed to the landfall Point.
(5)Vessels must contact Port Control on VHF Ch 12 when 2 miles or 20 mins away from the Landfall Point. Port Control will advise the duty pilot.
(6) All vessels must maintain acontinuous listening watch on VHF Chs 16 and 12.
(7)Departing vessels must advise Port Control on VHF Ch 12, 2h before departure or at least 1h before completing any manoeuvres or being ready for departure, advising the following information:
(a)Destination port and ETA
(b)Maximum draught on departure
(c)Number of persons on board
(d)Updated AIS Information
(8)Port Control will give permission to depart and advise the duty pilot. Vessels should continue to maintain a continuous listening watch on VHF Ch 12 and contact pilots on VHF Ch 12,30 mins before commencing manoeuvres.
(9)Outbound vessels should report to Port Control on passing the Landfall Point on VHF Ch 12 and then resume listening watch on VHF Ch 16.
(10)Vessels under 500 GT must contact Port Control on VHF Chs 12 and 16 before entering or departing from the port, and provide information on their intended manouevres. A continuous listening watch must be maintained on VHF Chs 12 and 16.
(11)Military vessels navigating the waters of the port of Cartagena must contact Port
Control on VHF Ch 12 and 16 and advise the times of entering or departing from the port.
(12)Military vessels requiring a pilot should follow the normal procedures stated in PROCEDURE but use VHF Ch 09 for docking or entering the military channel and VHF Ch 12 when entering or departing from the civilian area.

NOTES:
(1)Vessels experiencing faulls, defects or damage on board must inform full details to Port Control who will advise the relevant authorities.
(2)Vessels bound for Darsena de Escombreras are to follow the instructions advised by Cartagena Port Control.
