Традиционно англичане едят три раза в день: завтрак, ленч и обед.
Завтрак подается утром. Раньше это был обильный прием пищи с овсянкой, яйцами и беконом, колбасой, помидорами. Но такой большой завтрак отнимает много времени на приготовление и не очень полезен. Сейчас наиболее распространенный английский завтрак состоит из овсянки, тоста с мармеладом, сока и йогурта с чашкой чая или кофе.
Ленч – легкая пища. Большинство людей не возвращается домой на ленч из-за нехватки времени, а едят в школьных столовых, кафе, барах или ресторанах.
Главный прием пищи – обед, который обычно происходит между шестью и семью вечера. Обычная еда вечером – это мясное блюдо с овощами и десерт. Главный прием пищи недели – воскресный обед, который обычно бывает в час дня. Традиционным воскресным обедом раньше была жареная говядина, но сейчас свинина, цыпленок или баранина более распространены.
В воскресенье вечером – ужин (называемый high tea). Знаменитый английский дневной чай становится менее популярен, исключая выходные.
Еда в нашей семье.
Моя семья небольшая. Она состоит из 4 человек. Но каждый член нашей семьи имеет свои вкусы и интересы. Например, мой брат увлекается спортом. Рано утром он бегает трусцой. Поэтому он ничего не ест перед этим, так как перед упражнениями есть нежелательно. Но возвратившись, он принимает душ и идет завтракать. Чтобы взбодриться, он всегда выпивает чашку кофе. Завтрак моего брата обычно состоит из тарелки овсянки с молоком и сахаром. Затем тосты и сок. У моего отца такой же завтрак.
У моей мамы завтрак более легкий и состоит из йогурта и грейпфрута. Мне достаточно чашки чая на завтрак. Но мама меня иногда ругает, потому что хорошо позавтракать – очень важно.
Мы не едим вместе во время ленча. Папа берет бутерброды на работу. Чтобы быть здоровым, он также ест фрукты. У мамы более разнообразная еда, потому что она домохозяйка. Это значит, что она может приготовить все, что хочет. Ее любимое блюдо – жареное мясо. Так как она любит печь, дома всегда есть что-нибудь вкусненькое.
Вечером мы обычно едим в 7 часов. Главное блюдо – мясо с овощами. Иногда мы едим пиццу или макароны со вкусным соусом. Мы стараемся обедать вместе. В нашей занятой жизни это время, когда мы садимся и разговариваем.
Правила поведения за столом.
Хорошие манеры за столом исключают вульгарность. Все правила поведения за столом созданы, чтобы избежать этого. Показывать кому-нибудь содержимое вашего рта — оскорбительно. То же самое касается и шума. Неаккуратно есть также некрасиво. Поэтому и существуют правила поведения за столом.
Не привлекайте к себе чрезмерного внимания собравшихся.
Когда едите, берите, сколько хотите, но съедайте все, что берете.
Никогда не тянитесь через весь стол за чем-нибудь, попросите соседа передать это.
Берите кусочек хлеба с хлебницы рукой, не накалывайте его вилкой.
Никогда не читайте во время приема пищи (по крайней мере, в компании).
Когда перед вами поставлено блюдо, не пожирайте его глазами, как будто вы в первый раз его увидели, и не создавайте впечатления, будто вы готовы проглотить его.
Цыпленок требует специального способа обращения. Вначале порежьте его, а когда уже невозможно пользоваться ножом или вилкой, прибегните к пальцам.
Вежливый способ отказаться от блюда — сказать: "Нет, спасибо" (или согласиться: "Да, пожалуйста"). Не говорите "Я такое не ем", не гримасничайте и не поднимайте шум, показывая, что вы не хотите этого.
В перерывах между едой не катайте хлебные шарики, чтобы скоротать время, и не играйте с серебром.
Не оставляйте ложку в чашке, когда пьете чай или кофе.
