WARMING UP

Give the equivalent of the saying in Kazakh / Russian . "A good laugh is sunshine in a house."

CONSOLIDATION Introduce yourself to the other students.

Begin with: Hello. I’m…… and what’s your name? - Hi I’m …. Nice to meet you.

Try to remember their names. Does anybody in your group have an unusual name / a very traditional name/ a very long name/ a name that ‘s difficult to spell?

PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE.

We form the Present Continuous like this: be + ing form. Eg. I am wearing a blouse. We use Present Continuous : to talk about actions and situations in progress now: The bus is coming to talk about actions and situations in progress around now but not exactly at the moment we speak: What are you doing this days? –I’m learning Spanish. We don’t usually use this verbs in Present Continuous tense: like know hate love understand believe mean remember want

Exercise 1. Make up 5 sentences in Continuous about Mary’s family

Get acquaintance

       First of all let me introduce myself. My name is Assya. I’m sixteen. I was born in Almaty. I live with my parents and my elder sister who is already a student. Therefore she often helps me with my homework. My elder sister is a charming young girl. We get on very well together because she’s very friendly and easy-going and never tries to tell me what to do, though she’s five years older than me.

I am not very tall but rather slim with a straight brown hair, oval face. I'm like my mother, we both have dark hair and dark eyes. As for my character, I think I look like my sister. I am quite sociable and talkative and I like being around people. Actually, I love telling jokes and making my friends smile.

Like my mother, I also admire the flowers. At home we have so many of them. We take care of the flowers together with my mom. I love drawing and painting and when I have time I do it with great pleasure.

I’m a first year student of a specialized English college. I do well at college. My best subjects are History and Literature. I like languages very much and I take a special interest in English.

     I’m a keen reader. I like reading books about animals, science-fiction stories and detectives. I like fantastic books because while you are reading these stories you are in magic world and it’s wonderful.
