Ionic compound of liquid in room temperature is called ionic liquid. It tends to form ionic liquid when imidazolium system or quaternary ammonium system is used on a cation, and TFSI-, BF4-, PF6- is used on an anion.

In comparison with the system of quaternary ammonium, Imidazolium cation system has advantage which is low viscosity and high conductivity, but has disadvantage which isn’t electro-chemical stability.

I focus on imidazolium molecular structure in order to improve imidazolium cation system having this electrochemical stability.

I designed the imidazolium structure, introducing the ether oxygen atom in the alkyl chain or branched alkyl chain to 3 position of 1-alkylimidazolole (Fig1). We compared imidazolium having cation branched alkyl chain and equivalent molecular formula imidazolium cation.

Imidazolium salt with branched alkyl chain revealed having higher conductivity than that with straight alkyl chain. And, viscosity was lowered or kept, and electrochemical stability was kept.

And we compared imidazolium having ether oxygen atom and same length main chain. Imidazolium salt with the ether oxygen atom of substitute revealed having higher conductivity than that with same length of main chain. And, viscosity was lowered, and Electrochemical stability was kept.

More high electrochemical stability, we try to introduce the some ether oxygen atom into the alkyl chains to imidazolium cation or other position of imidazolium cation (Fig2).

Application Development Environment for eTrobocon

Briefly speaking, ETrobocon is a contest of the robot using embedded technology software design.

A number of young Japanese engineers attend this contest. I also Participated in this tournament as part of my graduation thesis.

Competition is performed by time trial race for autonomous robot line tracing. Competitors will design a line tracing program, develop and integrate into the robot.

During the development of the program, I have to do many experiments to know the characteristic of robot and sensor. But very inefficient for experiments with existing environments. So I have created an environment for efficient development of the experiment.

This development environment can send information to a computer through Bluetooth communication with the robot, and view of the record, and analyze software.

The software programming language is C #.The robot can hold information with these sensors and actuators. This information will be sent to a computer, a computer analyzes the information. These functions include graphing of sensor values and displaying the running locus of the robot, and analyzing courses.

These functions help the programmer. I took part in software development of the ETrobocon with this application.

I felt much easier to work than to work with general purpose environment.
