PROCEDURE:

(1) Pilotage Is compulsory up to 1n mile from the coast for vessels over 500 GT.

(2) NotIce of ETA: Vessels should send ETA to Port Authority, through the Agent. at least 24h in advance.

(3) A VHF pilotage service is provided, and is available for the following:

(a) Vessels below 2000 GT that do not use tugs and llie Master has knowledge 01 the Italian language

(b) Vessels below 20 000 GT entering the compulsory area exclusively for anchoring

(c) Passenger vessels below 6000 GT on scheduled services that do not use tugs and the Master has knowledge of the IlaJian language

(4) Pilot boards as follows:

(a) Refinery: 2 n mUes Nof the piers

Maritime Monitoring Service

DESCRIPTION:

The Mllazzo Ships Infonnaton Service receives communications from vessels in the area and provides the following infonnation:

(1) Requirements and provisions of the Maritime Authority, the regulation of actfvities within the port, in the roads and at the refinery.

(2) Local meteorological conditions.

(3) loading information from local agents.

(4) Charging regulations.
