(5) On arrival at the area, vessels should call the appropriate VTC as follows:
(a) South·bound vessels: All vessels departing the Suez Canal and approaching latitude 29°50'·00Nshould contact Ras el 'AdabtyaVTC on VHF Ch 16 to receive instructions
(b) North·bound vessels: All vessels departing the Red Sea and approaching latitude 27°20'·00Nshould contact False Ras Gharib VTC on VHF Ch 16to receive instructions
(6) Vessels changing sectors within the VTIMS area should check in and check out with the appropriate VTC.
(7) Vessels entering ports within the VTIMS area should report directly to the port on VHF Ch 16 or the port calling channel, and check out with the appropriate VTC.
(8) Vessels leaving the VTIMS area should check out with the appropriate VTC.
(9) In an emergency, vessels should contact the appropriate VTC on VHF Ch 16 or current working channel.

DESCRIPTION:
AVTS Station has been established to provide the following services:
(1) Ensures safety of navigation within the TSS of the Gulf of Aqaba.
(2) Monitors passing vessels outside the traffic lane 15 nmiles north and south of the station.
(3) Provides navigational assistance and advice to the passing vessels if required.

PROCEDURE:
(1) Pilotage is compulsory.
(2) Notice of ETA: Vessels should send ETA 7 days, or on departure from last port, then 72h, 48h and 24h in advance via e-mail; 96h, 48h, 24h and 5h for LNG vessels.
(3) When a vessel is within 20 n miles of the terminal, contact should be made via e-mail or telephone.
(4) Masters of LNG Vessels shall give notice of arrival on VHF Ch 74 immediately upon arrival at the designated anchorage at the LNG Terminal.
(5) After initial contact, the terminal will designate means for further communications.
(6) Terminal Pilot/Mooring Master boards in position 3'48'-40N8'43'·63E(1-5 n miles NNE of Punta Europa).
NOTES:
(1) Vessels will normally only be allowed to moor and unmoor at terminal CBM berths No 1and 2 HJ.
(2) LNG vessels may be allowed to moor and unmoor at the LNG Terminal H24.
(3) Under no account should Masters take any instructions from Malabo Port Control or Malabo Pilots.
(4) Terminal is operated by Marathon EG Production Ltd, AMPCo LLC and EG LNG Operations SA.
