Основные функции глагола to do
1) смысловой глагол — делать, выполнять, действовать, подходить:
То do is to be. — Действоватъ — значит быть.
Не will do for us. — Он нам подходит.
It will only do you good. — Это вам будет только на пользу.
2) вспомогательный глагол — не переводится:
The rule does not work. — Это правило не работает.
Do you read much? — Ты много читаешь?
3) слово - заместитель — используется вместо ранее упомянутого сказуемого:
I know English better than he does. — Я знаю английский лучше, чем он (знает).
4) усиливает значение сказуемого — стоит перед смысловым глаголом в инфинитиве без to: I do like it. — Это мне действительно нравится.
Времена группы Indefinite Present Indefinite Active (Настоящее неопределенное действительного залога)
1. Present Indefinite Active образуется из инфинитива глагола без частицы to для всех лиц и чисел (кроме 3 л. ед. числа):
They help me. — Они помогают мне.
We like music. — Мы любим музыку.
В 3 л. eд. числа сказуемое имеет окончание -s или -es (если глагол оканчивается: на -s, -ss, -sh, -ch, -x или гласную):
plans — (он, она, оно) планирует
does — (он, она, оно) делает
uses — (он, она, оно) использует
Глагол to have в 3 л. ед. числа имеет форму has. Например:
He has mаnу mistakes. — У него много ошибок.
2. Present Indefinite Active передает действие, которое происходит в настоящее время (в отличие от прошедшего и будущего), время действия точно не определено, не ограничено, такое действие происходит обычно, а не в определенный момент, час и не соотносится с другим действием (до него или после него).
Past Indefinite Active (Прошедшее неопределенное действительного залога)
1. Past Indefinite Active образуется прибавлением окончания -ed к инфинитиву глагола без частицы to для всех лиц и чисел.
2. Past Indefinite Active передает действие, которое происходило в прошлом; время действия точно не определено, не ограничено, такое действие происходило обычно, и оно могло быть закончено или не закончено: значит, глагол в форме Past Indefinite можно переводить совершенным и несовершенным видом, в зависимости от смысла предложения.
Не changed his point of view. — Он изменил свою точку зрения (совершенный вид).
Не often changed his point of view. — Он часто менял свою точку зрения (несовершенный вид).
3. Неправильные глаголы. Не все английские глаголы образуют прошедшее время прибавлением окончания -ed. Довольно большое количество глаголов имеют особую форму прошедшего времени, которую приходится просто запоминать, например:
to go — went;
to come – came.
По способу образования Past Indefinite и Participle II все английские глаголы делятся на две группы:
правильные — образуют прошедшее время и причастие II одинаково: прибавлением окончания -ed;
неправильные — образуют прошедшее время и причастие II не по общему правилу, их формы надо запоминать.
Future Indefinite Active (Будущее неопределенное действительного залога)
1. При образовании Future Indefinite Active требуется вспомогательный глагол (shall – для подлежащих 1 лица, will – в остальных случаях) и Infinitive смыслового глагола без частицы to.
Вспомогательные глаголы shall и will не имеют собственного значения, но они показывают, что смысловой глагол стоит в будущем времени:
2. Future Indefinite Active передает действие, которое произойдет в будущем, при этом время этого действия точно не определено, оно может быть закончено и не закончено в будущем, а подлежащее активно (Active), оно само совершает действие, например:
She will go there. — Она уедет (поедет, уйдёт) туда.
They will begin the classes at 9 o'clock. — Они начнут (будут начинать) занятия в 9 часов.
3. Говоря о будущем времени следует сказать, что:
а) в современном английском языке вспомогательный глагол will может использоваться для любого лица и числа (а не только для второго и третьего), например:
We will see them tomorrow. — Мы увидим их завтра.
б) для передачи будущего времени может использоваться словосочетание to be going, за которым следует инфинитив с частицей to и которое означает собираться (сделать что-то), например:
I am going to read this book next year. — Я собираюсь прочитать эту книгу в будущем году.
We were going to help them. — Мы собирались помочь им.
Действия, выраженные словосочетанием to be going (to), планируются заранее. Кроме того, глагол to be в этом словосочетании никогда не употребляется в будущем времени.
