При изучении таблицы обратите внимание на то, что:
а) в переводе русские частицы - тo (some — какой-то), - нибудь (any — какой-нибудь) и ни -(no — никакой) сохраняются почти во всех производных;
б) во всех производных местоимениях ударение падает на первый слог;
в) не забывайте, что производные от отрицательного местоимения nо делают все предложение отрицательным, а это значит, что в русском предложении перед сказуемым надо поставить частицу не. Например:
I can understand nothing. — Я ничего не могу понять.
Nobody can do it. – Никто не может сделать это.
г) Мы знаем, что в русском предложении можно использовать любое количество отрицательных слов, например:
Он никогда никому не дает ни одной книги.
В английском предложении может быть только одно отрицательное слово (будь то подлежащее, сказуемое, дополнение или обстоятельство), которое делает все предложение отрицательным. Поэтому приведенная выше фраза в английском варианте может звучать так:
Не never gives any of his books to anybody.
Английское предложение «Nobody ever saw him anywhere», в котором только одно отрицательное слово (nobody) , в русском варианте имеет четыре отрицательных слова «Никто никогда нигде не видел его». Следовательно, фразу «Я ничего не могу понять», можно передать двумя способами:
I can understand nothing (отрицательное дополнение);
I cannot understand anything (отрицательное сказуемое).
Выделяют также вопросительные и относительные местоимения. Они совпадают по форме, но в предложении передают различные значения:
