The decorative arts are traditionally defined as ornamental and functional works in ceramic, wood, glass, metal, or textile.

Your task is to divide different works of art given below into two columns.

Task 3. Internet search. At the pictures given below you can see pieces of so-called “Street art”. Find out what is “Street art”, read different articles on this matter and present your reports during the next class in front of your group. Your report should include not only the explanation of the phenomenon, but also your own ideas and attitude to this kind of art.

Task 4. Match the words with their definitions:

Content Focus

Task 1. Your home task was to find your own picture that you associate with the piece of music you have listened to at the previous class (Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons concerto). Explain your choice.

Task 2. Hand in your reports, consultation notes written as a home assignment to your teacher for checking and grading.

Your teacher will hand out the reports, consultation notes written by you as a home assignment on the next lesson, checked and commented on. After you look through the comments made by the teacher on your own summary, ask him/her questions if you do not quite understand or have doubts about some comments.

Task 3. Open the Workbook and check Tasks 1-4.

Task 4. After the history of Art we will get acquainted with the printing history. The history of printing started around 3000 BCE (before Common Era) with the duplication of images. Let’s check your knowledge of printing history. Answer the following questions (You have 5 minutes for this task):

  • What do you know about printing history?

  • When do you think the first book was published?

  • Which nation published the first book?

  • Has book printing changed a lot since early years of the beginning of printing?

Task 5. Read the text below and check whether your answers to Task 3 were correct. In this text you will get to know about Block printing and Movable type (You have 10 minutes for this task).
