Тема 11. Антонимический перевод

Антонимический перевод – это замена понятия, которое используется в подлиннике, противоположным ему понятием. При этом меняются на антонимы компоненты фразы, но смысл остается тем же самым, что и в подлиннике.

Например:

– Remember to call her. – He didn’t have much time at his disposal. – It is not unlikely that … – It may not be unexpected … – No kidding, I am sorry. – The sight never fails to raise my spirits. – Credit was not granted until early March.

Не забудь позвонить ей. У него было мало времени. Вполне вероятно, что … Можно ожидать, что … Серьезно, я сожалею. Это зрелище меня всегда вдохновляет. – Кредит был предоставлен лишь в начале марта.

Задания:

Переведите предложения на русский язык, используя прием антонимического перевода:

1.Rich countries show little sign of making further concessions. 2. Hold on, please. 3.Take your time. 4.Don’t get me wrong. 5. “ Macon, are you awake?” 6.There is a fine line between protection and protectionism. 7.Europe has more rigid labour markets. . 8. He is wise beyond his years.

Тема 12. Синтаксические преобразования на уровне предложений.

К синтаксическим преобразованиям относятся перестановки компонентов и такие приемы как стяжение и расщепление.

Стяжение - это объединение двух предложений в одно.

Например:

– She ran and bought her ticket and got back on the carrousel. Just in time.

– Она побежала, купила билет и в последнюю секунду вернулась к карусели.

Расщепление - это прием перевода, при котором одно длинное и сложное по составу предложение разбивается на два. Этот прием может применяться, например, в том случае, когда сказуемое в английском предложении очень далеко отстоит от подлежащего.

Например:

The White House's prompt disclosure that America's pay­ments deficit soared to an annual rate of $5,200 million in the second quarter, intended to shock Congress into quick action on the President's proposed interest equalization tax, had the immediate effect of causing the House of Representatives to slash the foreign aid program.

Это предложение - сравнительно небольшое, но сложное по структуре. Сказуемое had the effect далеко отстоит от подлежащего dis­closure, к которому относятся придаточное предложение that America's payments deficit... и причастный оборот intended... . К сказуемому же относится герундиальный оборот of caus­ing... . Чтобы избежать при переводе громоздких конструк­ций, такое предложение следует разбить на 2 — 3 более коротких, что, естественно, повлечет за собой изменение граммати­ческой структуры предложения. Вот один из возможных переводов этого предложения:

Белый дом поспешил проинформировать Конгресс о том, что во втором квартале сумма годового дефицита пла­тежного баланса США подскочила до 5,2 млрд. долларов. Правительство рассчитывало на то, что Конгресс, поражен­ный размером дефицита, немедленно предпримет действия, направленные на принятие предложенного президентом уравнительного налога с процентов. Однако эти действия правительства произвели совсем иной эффект: Палата пред­ставителей немедленно приняла решение о резком сокра­щении иностранной помощи.

Подлежащее английского предложения prompt disclosure становится сказуемым в русском переводе — поспешил про­информировать. Определение annual перенесено к слову де­фицит, к которому оно относится по смыслу.

Прилагательное immediate по смыслу скорее относится к самим действиям, которые предприняла Палата предста­вителей, чем к сказуемому to have the effect of – оказать воз­действие, произвести эффект

Переведите предложения, обращая внимание на порядок слов и используя прием расщепления, компенсации, антонимического и нулевого перевода, и т.д.
