1.Wi/1 is not а purely modal verb. lt almost always combines its modal meaning with its functioning as an auxiliaryverb in the future tense.

Wi/1 has two forms: wi/1 for the present tense and wou/d for the past tense. Thus wi/1 and wou/d are looked upon as forms of the same verb, although in а few cases tl1eir meanings differ.

Wi/1 expresses:
