Editor's Preface

Considerable debate has occurred amongst scholars of international politics during the 1990s about the significance of changes which are taking place in the world. Much of this debate centres on the concept of Globalization which forms a coherent organizing theme for this exciting introductory textbook. The book brings together a wide range of experts who have differing views about globalization. For some globalization is transforming the traditional state system while for others international politics remains largely unchanged.

The purpose of this book is not to provide a single perspective but to give students a comprehensive understanding of contemporary international politics by considering different approaches to the subject, within an overall unifying theme.
