Electronic Charts

The chart is shown with the direction of the vessels course upward. The display orientation is constant until a new course direction is fed in.

In this mode, the information (Chart and data) is represented in the chart window with the heading directed upward. The GPS symbol will always be directed upward toward the window.

IMPORTANT -Quick modifications of the route followed by the vessel can possibly make reading the charts illegible.

Example of Head Up display mode.

( This orientation corresponds to the field of vision from the gateway in the direction of the bow of the vessel)

Note:

A rotation threshold is fixed at 10 degrees: as soon as the orientation of the window differs more than 10 degrees from the heading of the mobile, the rotation of all the data (charts / data) is started. This threshold allows avoiding a blinking screen at each refresh of the display.

The function of the Head Up orientation mode depends on the embarked material which is used:

1.This mode is always active if you use Gyro or compass, charts may turn even if the speed of the mobile is zero.

2.In the case where you use a GPS, the heading of your mobile with zero speed is not always exact. You must enter a ( Fixed speed minimal value which corresponds to a release of rotation threshold). This value should be defined in the dialog box Configuration settings for the " automatic Centering "mode in Head Up mode.

Course up mode

The chart is shown with the direction of the vessel's heading always pointing upward. This orientation corresponds to the visual view from the bridge in the direction of the ship's heading.

The orientation routes at the top avoid the inconveniences of the heading representation at the top due to yaws or other changes of heading.

MaxSea Operator Manual version 12.6

Note: for Course-up and Leg-up mode, North direction is indicated by the compass rose symbol.

When you are using a Raster chart, the written information will turn on the chart, making it more difficult to read. On Vector charts written information is displayed horizontally while only the chart turns.

This mode follows the management of routes. It is therefore possible that the window orientation does not follow the axis " Active Waypoint / previous Waypoint ", this is the case when the function "Activate Next Waypoint" is enabled.
