Update Chart Catalog

Each time you receive a new Update CD or have ordered new charts, you have to update your installation. First be VERY careful not to mismatch any CD (for each ARCS skipper license order you receive a floppy, an update CD, and may receive one or more chart CDs). Verify the dates of each CD. Do not mismatch CDs between two orders.

To update charts, launch the ARCS&SeaFarerConfig software like you did before (see first part of this presentation),

1.Select Update Charts from the Charts menu, and follow instructions.

2.The update procedure is identical to chart installation. Just insert the newly ordered Chart or Update CDs when requested by installation software.

3.Then quit the installation software using File/Quit menu.

Verify Chart Integrity

If you have any trouble with a chart, you can verify its integrity by launching the Arcs&SeafarerConfig under Windows Start Menu > Programs > MaxSea Utilities

Then go to the Chart menu on the menu bar and choose Verify chart integrity… item.

You will be asked to open a chart file, and optionally an update file.

A dialog informs you if the file integrity is good, or if you must install it again from chart CD.
