RECOMMENDED STRATEGIES
-
listen to the first sentence and try to write it down as precisely as possible;
-
if the sentence is very long write down the part of the sentence you can remember;
-
if you feel you can’t recognize a word or more in the sentence, leave some space to be able to write it in later;
-
listen to the sentence again and try to correct mistakes if any;
-
pass to the next sentence and perform the steps described above;
-
after you have written the whole chapter, listen to it once more and correct mistakes if any.
-
Compare the text you have written with the original script and correct mistakes if any.
-
Look through the text which you have written and corrected and underline the words from Exercises 1-3 in it.
-
Listen to Chapter 1 again, simultaneously following the text and indicate pauses in the text (Use the following symbols: I and II;
I corresponds to a short pause, II corresponds to a long pause).
-
Practice reading the text of Chapter 1 imitating the narrator’s pronunciation.
