(1) The Fort-de-France pilotage area is defined as Eof aline joining Pointe des Negres to Cap Salomon including the anchorages off Pointe des Negres, Fond Nigaud and the jetty at Bellefontaine
(2) For vessels with a draught greater than 11 m crossing the line joining Pointe des Negres to Cap Salomon, the pilotage zone is defined as Eof aline joining Cap Salomon and Fond Bourlet.

PROCEDURE:
(1) Pilotage is compulsory for the following:
(a) All vessels carrying hydrocarbons or dangerous cargo, irrespective of LOA
(b) Vessels greater than 50m LOA bound for the port or an anchorage
(2) Vessels less than 100m LOA bound for an anchorage Wof a line joining Fort Saint Louis and Pointe du Bout are exempt pilotage.
(3) If pilot is not available vessels should wait, at anchor, in the Baie des Flamands (E of Pointe des Negres).
(4) Pilot boards in position 14°35'·40N61 °05'·55W(about 0·5nmiles off Pointe des Negres), or seaward of aline between Cap Enrage and Cap Salomon for deep-draught vessels.
NOTE:
(1 )Pilotage for the berth at Bellefontaine (14°4Q'·35N61 °09'·88W)should be ordered from Fort-de-France.
(2) The pilot will accompany vessels from Fort-de-France or, if vessels are sailing direct, will board in position 14°4Q'·52N61 °10'·40W(1 n mile Wofthe jetty).
SURNAV Reporting System
DESCRIPTION:
Fort de France is the administrative base for the Head of Marine for the French Antilles and Guyane Francaise (CMAG). The CMAG enforces the SURNAV reporting system which is intended to prevent accidental pollution within French territorial waters. For details of SURNAV reporting procedures see SURNAV (FRENCH WEST INOIES).
NOTE:
The French Antilles consist of numerous islands and islets of which the major are:

(2) Guadetoupe and the nearby islands of Marie-Galante, La Oesirade and iles des Saintes
