Abstract

The teaching materials on the course «Russian policy in Asia Pacific» are designed for 4^th year students of the Bachelor’s Program in International Relations according to the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard of Higher Professional Education for such programs (approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation (December 22, 2009. № 815) and FEFU requirements for Teaching materials (approved by the FEFU Acting Rector on 17.04.2012 № 12-13-87).

The course «Russian policy in Asia Pacific» is included in a variable part of the professional cycle, it is in the choice-list courses. 4 credit hours are assigned to the course, i.e. 144 hours. The course is taught in semester 3, year 2, and ends with an examination.

Course aspects:

• the role of Asia Pacific in world development in the twenty-first century;

• the development and implementation of the Russian policy in Asia-Pacific in the context of the search for common interests with foreign countries and international organizations;

• the solution of the tasks determined by the national interests of Russia, establishing and conducting of diplomatic relations, international cooperation with Asia Pacific countries.

The discipline «Russian policy in Asia Pacific» is based on the content of and the skills formed in the course of such disciplines as "Regional aspects of modern international relations», «Diplomacy and foreign policy of Asia Pacific states", "Political map of Asia Pacific, “Russian Far East in international relations”, “International conflicts in the twenty-first century". The course teaching process is based on extensive use of active, creative and interactive lectures, seminars combined with students’ after class work in order to develop their sufficient professional skills.

The total number of the course’s credits - 4 credits (144 hours).
