Занятие 12

Тема 2.2. Основная проблематика специальности «Социальная работа».

Продолжительность занятия: 2 часа.

Цель: Овладеть активной лексикой и основными лексико-грамматическими конструкциями, необходимыми и достаточными для построения монологических и диалогических высказываний.

Задачи:

  1. ознакомить с активной лексикой и тренировать ее

  2. тренировать грамматические модели

  3. тренировка навыков изучающего и информативного чтения, устного высказывания

Этапы занятий и рекомендуемая продолжительность тренировки видов речевой деятельности:

  1. Проверка домашнего задания. Направлено на формирование компетенции (20 мин).

  2. Работа над грамматическим материалом: повторение и закрепление употребления Continuous Passive. Направлена на развитие компетенции (25 мин).

Task 1. Put the verb in brackets into the correct tense-form.

1. (Do/Are) you (feel/feeling) nervous when you have exams? 2. (Are/Do) you (feeling/feel) nervous about the next English test? 3. We knew the baby (came/was coming) right away because the woman’s labour pains were acute. 4. I (will take/will be taking) these samples down to the lab on my way out. 5. The ultrasound (suggests/is suggesting) that your wife is seventeen weeks pregnant. 6. She (does/is doing) much better this morning. 7. Task 2. Change the following sentences from the Active into the Passive Voice.

1. The surgeon is performing the operation under a local anaesthetic. 2. They were transferring the patient to the recovery room a few hours after the operation when the patient’s parents came to visit her. 3. The nurse is giving an injection to the patient right now. 4. The doctor was discussing aspects of the patient’s care with his parents. 5. The nurse was supporting the neck of a newborn. 6. She felt sharp temporary pain when the nurse was inserting the needle. 7. They are airlifting the wounded soldiers to the hospital. 8. The technician is taking X-rays of my shoulder to make sure it isn’t broken. 9. The dentist was examining a patient when the nurse came in. 10. The nurse is preparing the examining table for the next patient. 11. They are sterilizing surgical instruments in this room now. 12. Dr. Brown was writing a prescription while the nurse was dressing the wound. 13. They are inoculating babies against diphtheria today. 14. They were carrying out an experiment on a small group of animals this time last year. 15. They are treating the passengers after the accident in the emergency room. 16. They are developing a new scheme to improve nutrition in the poorer areas. 17. He was undergoing a major surgery on his heart this time last year. 18. The registering clerk was filling in the patient’s card when the telephone rang. 19. His doctor is referring him to an eye specialist.

Task 1. Read and translate the text “Working with Terminally Ill clients”.

Task 2. Find in the text all the verbs which can combine with the word needs in the meaning удовлетворять потребности. Use the dictionary to learn the contexts these verbs are used in. Fill in the appropriate verb in the correct form.

1. I am afraid she will never … her dreams. 2. The suggested measures did not really … their needs. 3. The authorities did their best trying to … their residents’ needs. 4.
