Introduction
Introduction gives the listener an idea of what to expect and acts as a “hook” to grab attention.
You may start with “Hello. My name is … . The topic of my presentation is … .”
Main part
Main part supports the “controlling” idea of your presentation. Divide your conception into arguments and build the arguments according to the following structure:
What is the main idea of the paragraph?
What information will be used to support the main idea?
What does the information mean? Give an explanation?
Conclusion
The point of conclusion is to summarize what was said to support the aim of the presentation and give the listener a sense of completeness.
You may finish with “In conclusion I would like to say … / draw your attention to ”
To provoke interest in a listener most of the speakers use special techniques.
Think of people who are the best at it and say what techniques they use.
Now read the description of some rhetorical devices and give examples of their use.
Music: Captures attention –helps recall.

Emotional Appeal: Plays upon fear or sentiment of consumer rather than logical decision. Cute animals, babies, hands on (physical touch between a loving parent and a child).
Wit & Humor: Diverts attention –you don’t even think about the product.
Card Stacking: Puts all the “cards” in favor of the product; it makes the other “guy” look pathetic –over exaggerates.
Testimonial: Uses word of an expert or a famous person to promote a particular idea or product. The consumer identifies with the person.
