VII. Final assessment Final assessment in the course "English as the first language" consists of the oral examination.
The oral examination consists of three tasks:
1. Work with the text (reading, translation, retelling and explanation of some phonetics and grammar items).
2. Speaking on the suggested situation (without a prior preparation).
3. Translation of the situations from Ukrainian into English (without a prior preparation).
"Excellent" is given for:
1. Work with the text (reading, translation, retelling and explanation of some phonetics and grammar items)
the correct phonetic presentation of the text (1-2 phonetic mistakes);
correct understanding of the text;
adequate translation of the given text fragment from English into Ukrainian and complete retelling of its contents. 1-2 grammar or lexical mistakes are allowed.
good knowledge of phonetics and grammar.
2. Speaking on the suggested situation
complete adherence to the subject;
logical presentation and covering of the subject;
use of various language means required by the programme;
good knowledge of phonetics, vocabulary and grammar. Not more than two language mistakes are allowed.
3. Translation of the situations from Ukrainian into English
good knowledge of vocabulary and grammar. Not more than 2 language mistakes are allowed.
"Good" is given for:
1. Work with the text (reading, translation, retelling and explanation of some phonetics and grammar items)
the correct phonetic presentation of the text (3-4 phonetic mistakes are allowed);
correct understanding of the text;
adequate translation of a text fragment from English into Ukrainian and complete retelling of its contents. 3-4 grammar or lexical mistakes are allowed.

2. Speaking on the suggested situation
complete adherence to the subject;

good knowledge of vocabulary and grammar. 3-4 language mistakes are allowed.
"Satisfactory" is given for:
1. Work with the text (reading, translation, retelling and explanation of some phonetics and grammar items).
partially correct phonetic presentation of the text (5-7 mistakes are allowed);
partially adequate translation of a text fragment from English into Ukrainian.
insufficient retelling of its contents. 5-7 grammar or lexical mistakes are allowed;
insufficient knowledge of phonetics and grammar.
2. Speaking on the suggested situation
conformity with the topic;
insufficient presentation;
scarce language means;
speech tempo and reaction are slowed down.
3. Translation of the situations from Ukrainian into English
insufficient knowledge of vocabulary and grammar. 5-7 language mistakes are allowed.
"Poor" is given for:
1. Work with the text (reading, translation, retelling and explanation of some phonetics and grammar items).
incorrect phonetic presentation of the text;
inadequate translation of a text fragment from English into Ukrainian;
poor retelling of its contents;
the knowledge of phonetics and grammar is poor.
2. Speaking on the suggested situation
poor conformity with the topic;
the absence of logic in speech;
scarce language means.
the knowledge of phonetics, vocabulary and grammar is poor.
speech tempo and reaction are slowed down.
3. Translation of the situations from Ukrainian into English
poor knowledge of vocabulary and grammar.
