Цель: научить учащихся работать с учебной литературой.

В этот день мы работали с одним из компонентов информационной компетенции как умение работать с учебной литературой, а в частности выделять в тексте главное, сокращать его до нескольких строк, не искажая смысл, а также находить в тексте необходимую информацию.

Для этого был использован учебник Кузовлева, упражнение 7 на странице 119. И первое задание звучало так: прочитайте про олимпийские игры. Заполните таблицу, т.е поисковый вид чтения (reading for specific information). Учащиеся должны были прочитать текст, найти необходимую информацию и заполнить таблицу. Затем используя эту таблицу рассказать, о чем говорится в тексте. Выглядело это задание следующим образом:

In 1992 in the Barcelona Olympic Games a new world record in the 100 – meters race was set. Linford Christie finished the race in 9. 86 seconds. Linford was 32; he was the oldest runner who had ever won an Olympic sprint medal. He had won more medals than any other British athletes. In Barcelona the British team won two more gold medals. Colin Jackson set a new world record in 110 – meters hurdles. And Jacqui Agyepong from women athletics team won 100 – meters hurdles. John Regis got a silver medal in relay (Jackson, Jarrett, Regis, Christie). And women got a bronze in the same race (Keough, Smith, Goddard, Gunnell). It is a great success of British sportsmen.

Следующее задание упражнение 8, на странице 119. Задание состоит в том что учащиеся должны ответить на вопросы, т.е чтение с детальным пониманием прочитанного (reading for detail).

8. Britain is famous not only for its athletes. There are many interesting and unusual competitions which attract a lot of people. Among them are the Highland Games.

a) How long have the Highland Games been held in Scotland?

b) Why are the Highland Games popular?

c) What equipment (инвентарь) is necessary for these competitions? (reading for detail)

Highland Games are a traditional festival of Scottish sports and music. The first games were organized at Braemar by Malcolm, king of Scotland in the 11^th century. Now the Braemar Gatherings are very famous especially for their caber-tossing (толкание бревна) competitions. The Braemar Caber is 19 feet long and weighs 120 pounds. The Highland Games have been held (проводятся) since the 19^th century. They are held at different towns in the Highlands. They are very popular.

Правильный ответ:

1. The Highland Games have been held since the 19^th century.

2. The Highland Games are very famous especially for their caber-tossing competitions.

3. The Braemar Caber is 19 feet long and weighs 120 pounds.

С первым заданием справились большинство, а вот со вторым упражнением справилась только половина класса.

Вывод: с первым заданием учащиеся справились успешно, однако второе задание вызвало затруднения. Возможно, нужно было перед выполнением данного упражнения ответить на первый вопрос вместе с учащимися, подсказать им ключевые слова, по которым они могли бы правильно ответить на вопрос или перевести вопросы для понимания их значения.
