THE PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE

Present Perfect Continuous образуется с помощью вспомогательного глагола to be, стоящего в форме Present Perfect и смыслового глагола

с окончанием -ing.

HAVE(HAS) BEEN + V-ing

I have been doing.

She has been writing.

They have been playing.

Have you been watching?

He hasn’t been playing.

Present Perfect Continuous

We have been discussing this problem for 2 hours (since 3).

Past Simple.

We’ve been trying to find someone for this job since he quit. —

She’s been crying all morning. —

Please, excuse the way things are in here. I’ve been tidying the room. —

Present Perfect.

I’ve lived in this city all my life.

They are very tired. They’ve been working all day.

Present Perfect.

I haven’t smoked for 20 years.

Present Perfect.

I’ve known him for 20 years.

We’ve been here for 2 hours. —
