a. Today, they are sophisticated systems that perform the same duties as a highly trained pilot. In fact, for some in-flight routines and procedures, they are even better than a pair of human hands. They don't just make flights smoother -- they make them safer and more efficient.

b. The A380 uses system that applies computers to process the flight control inputs made by the pilot or autopilot, and send corresponding electrical signals to the flight control surface actuators. It is linked to side-sticks, located to the right or left of the pilot depending upon his position in the aircraft.

c. The task is to ensure safe operations of commercial and private aircraft. It must coordinate the movements of thousands of aircraft, keep them at safe distances from each other, direct them during takeoff and landing from airports, direct them around bad weather and ensure that traffic flows smoothly with minimal delays.

The screens integrate and display all sorts of useful flight information.
