Summary

The authors analyze the data on illness of thyroid in population of Tomsk region. They give both theory bases and experimental methods of the investigation. The obtained results of studying the micro-element composition of thyroid both under pathology and in normal are presented. The authors also investigate the influence of age, volume, hormonal state and other factors on the distribution of elements in the thyroid tissue. The role of ecological and geochemical factors and micro-element disbalance in generation of thyroid pathology of different types. Basing on the obtained results the authors has performed mapping and zoning of the territory of the region.

The work has performed on co-operation with the specialists from the Siberian State Medical University and Department of Geo-ecology and Geo-chemistry of the Tomsk Polytechnic University.

The book is addressed to endocrinologists, thyroidologists, hygienists, therapists, public health workers, health care managers, ecologists, specialists interesting in relations between geochemistry of environment and health as well as to the students of medical, biological and natural sciences.
