2. Описовий переклад (explication or descriptive translation).

Описовий переклад – це такий прийом перекладу нових лексичних елементів вихідної мови, коли слово, словосполучення, термін чи фразео-логізм замінюються в мові перекладу словосполучениям (або більшим за кількістю компонентів словосполученням), яке адекватно передає зміст цього слова або словосполучення (терміна). Наприклад, английське слово lobby можно передати не тільки транслітерациєю лобби, але й описово, як «тиск на членів англійського парламенту в кулуарах парламенту»; maisonette – квар­тира (помешкання) в двох рівнях (на двох поверхах), wail – автомобіль з високими динамічними якостями.

До описового перекладу висуваються такі вимоги: 1) переклад по-винний точно відбивати основиий зміст позначеного поняття, 2) опис не повинний бути надто докладним, 3) синтаксична структура сло­восполучення не повинна бути складною.

3. Калькування або дослівний переклад (calques or translation loans).

Калькування (перекладацьке запозичення або дослівний переклад) – це прийом пе­рекладу слів (термінів), коли імітується структура одиниці мови оригіналу(морфеми чи слова) із використанням, як правило, першого за порядком відповідника у словнику, наприклад: ore yard – рудний двір, movable table – рухомий стіл, Big Bang – Великий вибух, people of good will – люди доброї волі.

Калькування як прийом перекладу частіше застосовується при пере­кладі складних слів або словосполучень. Воно може застосовуватися також у комбінації із відповідностями, трансформаціями або транскодуванням: sky-scraper – хмарочос, miniskirt – мініспідниця, petrodollars – нафтодолари, charmed quark – зачарований кварк, slag yard – шлаковий двір, target search – пошук цілі, drafting table – креслярський стіл, self-loading -- самозавантаження.

Дуже часто калькування застосовувається для перекладу географічних назв: Cape of Good Hope – мыс Доброй Надії, New South Wales – Новий Південний Уэльс, St. Lawrence River – річка Св. Лаврентія.

Калькування можна застосовувати тільки тоді, коли утворений та­ким чином перекладний відповідник не порушує норми вживання i сполу-чуваності слів у мові перекладу.

4.Аналогія (analogy). Деякі лінгвісти говорять про використання аналогій в процесі перекладу одиниць безеквівалентної лексики. Аналогії це одиниці мови перекладу, які мають значення близьке, але не ідентичне значенню одиниці мови оригіналу. У різних мовах існують одиниці, які позначають схожі явища, процеси, предмети культур тощо. Саме ці одиниці і можуть використовуватися у перекладі: drugstore, pharmacy – аптека; узвар, компот – stewed fruit; city/town council of education – міський відділ народної освіти, gingerbread – коврижка, shopsteward – голова профкому, дипломна робота – graduation paper, підвищення кваліфікації – in-service training.

3. Five Labour MPs and Lord Fenner Brockway yesterday promised to support the Cuban Premier's request for the British Government to act against counter-revolutionary activity from British-governed Caribbean territory. They agreed to this after being lobbied by members of the Brit­ish-Cuba Association.

4. Call to Lobby Conference.

The Liaison Committee for the Defence of Trade Unions has urged all trade unionists to support the lobby of the Labour Party conference next Wednesday at Brighton. The lobby is in support of TUC policy to repeal the Prices and Incomes Act.

6. Teach-In for Ford Women.

Ford's women strikers have been invited to attend a teach-in on Women and the Social Services to be held in London on Sunday.

7. Hunter students held a "judge-in", and several hundred listened to a taped message from Bertrand Russell, ini­tiator of the War Crimes Tribunal to be held in Paris April 26.

8. The recently-held Morning Star "speak-in" on "The So­cialist Way Forward for the Labour Movement", with 520 delegates from 271 Labour Movement organisations "demonstrated the richness of experience of the labour and progressive movement", as editor George Matthews said in his winding-up remarks.
