Brief content of the lecture
First organizations of the working class.
Development of capitalism led to the huge concentration of wealth and power. But for millions, living and working conditions were poor. In 1900, the USA had the highest job- related fatality rate of any industrialized nation of the world. Most industrialized workers still worked a 10- hour day ( in steel industry 12 hours), but earned a little. The situation was only worse for children, whose number in the workforce was great.
In all industrialized countries workers became the real political force: they comprised 45-50% of the population.
First organizations were trade- unions.

In 1900 Committee of Labour Representatives was formed-
In 1906 it was renamed into Labour Party.
