V. Rating assessment system

The module includes the following:

Semester rating

Examination

grading

Current grading

Module test

grading

In-class work

Self-study work

Current grading of all students’ activities (in-class work and self-study work) should be done according to the traditional 4-grade scale („5”, „4”, „3”, „2”). At the end of the module an instructor is to give an average grade for a student’s in-class work and self-study work. This grade is transformed into the semester rating by way of multiplying it by 10 (ten). Thus, the maximum semester grade is 50.

Module Test (henceforth MT) is a part of semester rating. MT is taken at the end of the semester. The average grade for a student’s MT is given according to the 4-grade scale: «5», «4», «3», «2». These grades are transformed into the MT grading according to the following Module Test Assessment Scale:

«5» — 20 points;

«4» — 16 points;

«3» — 12 points;

«2» — 8 points.

non-attendance of the Module Test – 0 point.

Thus, semester rating is a sum of Current grading and MT grading.

The examination consists of the answers to three examination questions. Every examination card question is assessed with the help of the four-point scale: «5», «4», «3», «2». Consequently, a student has three grades for the examination, which are transformed into the rating points in the following way:

Examination Questions Assessment Scale

«5» — 10 points;

«4» — 8 points;

«3» — 6 points;

«2» — 4 points.

All points (the three examination question points) are added up. The sum makes the examination score – 30.
