Призначений для навчання англійської мови студентів І курсу фінансово-економічних спеціальностей і розрахований на використання у вищих навчальних закладах.

Пeредмова
У сучасному міжнародному суспільстві дедалі більше розширюються контакти спеціалістів з різних країн, а нові соціально-економічні умови в Україні викликають необхідність посилити увагу до питань вивчення іноземної мови у вищих закладах освіти. Знання іноземної мови є необхідною вимогою до майбутнього фахівця – конкурентоздатного, творчого працівника, спроможного оволодіти найновітнішими технологіями у різних сферах професійної діяльності і підтримувати тісні ділові контакти із закордонними колегами.
Даний посібник призначений для вивчення англійської мови студентами І курсу фінансово-економічних спеціальностей і розрахований на використання у вищих навчальних закладах. Потреба створення даного посібника викликана новими вимогами, які висуваються у зв’язку з необхідністю узгодження змісту фахової освіти із Загальноєвропейськими Рекомендаціями з мовної освіти та новою програмою з англійської мови спеціального вжитку. Ця програма є багатоаспектною, що враховує різні параметри Загальноєвропейських рекомендацій, і модульною, що упорядкована згідно з принципами кредитно-модульного навчання та оцінювання: модуль 1 – «Повсякденна комунікація», модуль 2 – «Впровадження комунікації за фахом», модуль 3 – «Комунікація за фахом, міжкультурна свідомість», модуль 4 – «Сприймання автентичних матеріалів, професійна комунікація». Таким чином, перший модуль нової національної типової програми з англійської мови спеціального вжитку включає в себе основну програму (обов’язковий мінімум) англійської мови академічного вжитку з елементами певної спеціалізації. Основна програма базується на інтеграції вмінь та на формуванні комунікативної компетенції у користуванні англійською мовою.
Оскільки пропонований посібник розрахований на студентів I курсу, його мета полягає в активізації та розширенні знань, набутих в межах шкільної програми, поповненні запасу слів і словосполучень, вивченні побутових, культурологічних, країнознавчих та фахових тем, удосконаленні навичок активного використання навчального матеріалу в мовній діяльності з урахуванням комунікативних потреб майбутніх фахівців та в закріпленні нормативного граматичного матеріалу.
Посібник складається з 12 тематично-спрямованих розділів, кожен з яких містить окрему лексичну та граматичну тему. У лексичному блоці розглядаються наступні лексичні теми: «Знайомство», «Моя родина», «Мій робочий день», «Англійська в моєму житті», «Мій інститут», «Моя майбутня професія», «Телефонні розмови», «Ділова подорож», «У готелі», «Їжа», «У лікаря», «Англомовні країни», необхідні майбутньому фахівцю під час спілкування з іноземними партнерами та під час закордонної подорожі. Кожен розділ містить нові слова, вирази, мовні зразки, діалоги, тексти та мовні ситуації за темою. До текстів пропонуються лексичні вправи та завдання на відпрацювання мовленнєвих навичок і вмінь використання лексичного матеріалу, що вивчається в ситуаціях реального спілкування. Це вправи на словотворення, перефразування, тлумачення окремих cлів, переклад з української мови на англійську та навпаки. У посібнику з метою оптимізації процесу викладання англійської мови особливу увагу приділено забезпеченню комунікативності навчальної діяльності студентів. Відомо, що оволодіння іноземною мовою можливе лише за умови моделювання реальних ситуацій іншомовного спілкування під час навчання. Посібник містить ряд завдань, спрямованих на практичне застосування мовного матеріалу, а саме імітацію, рольові ігри, спілкування у групі, дискусії, та інше. У кінці кожного розділу пропонуються вправи, спрямовані на закріплення вивченого граматичного матеріалу. Система вправ забезпечує швидке й ефективне засвоєння студентами необхідних знань і вироблення в них стійких навичок спілкування.
У зв’язку з тим, що в сучасній вищій школі навчальний процес дедалі більше набуває характеру самостійної роботи студентів, і перед викладачем постає завдання планування та раціональної організації такого виду роботи, у посібник включені тексти для самостійного опрацювання. Оскільки студенти мають різний рівень володіння англійською мовою, пропоновані тексти є різними за складністю. Це дає можливість викладачеві гнучко підходити до організації навчальної діяльності студентів, тобто варіювати кількість і складність завдань відповідно до індивідуального рівня підготовки студентів. Таким чином, матеріал посібника забезпечує різноманітність та індивідуалізацію викладання та навчання.
