5. Shape the recipe for “Irish Oatmeal”

There’s no need to say, that modern life presents us with more and more changes. We change everything rapidly: our jobs and houses, our friends and even our spouses. And all these changes have certainly influenced our eating habits. Unfortunately nowadays people don’t have enough time to eat properly, it is easier to get “take away” or hamburger, than to cook something substantial. And it influences our digestion in not the best way.

Marian Cunningham believes that breakfast is the most important meal in our diet. During this meal our body get necessary amount of energy for all working day. But nowadays tendency to skip breakfast appeared, what is very thoughtlessly. The author of the “Breakfast book” advice some simple, but still, rather tasty and nourishing recipes for breakfast. One of them is the recipe for Irish oatmeal. It has such unusual name, because it comes really from Ireland. Prepare this dish can even the worst cook, all you need is to take a cup of oats and pour it 1 and ½ cups of boiled and salted water. Then just stir and covered it and timed the dish to perfection, better to leave it for all night at low oven. I hope you like it with brown sugar and a little bit of cream, or light cream.

And next morning you will have wonderful breakfast, which will give you the energy to feel cheerful all day long.

6. Speak about table manners as seen by the food editor Craig Claiborne

Whether you're eating at a fancy restaurant, in the cafeteria, or at home with friends and families, good table manners make for a more pleasant meal. While you may not need to worry about confusing your salad fork with your desert fork when dining with friends, some basic table manners should never be forgotten. It's important to make a good impression at mealtime.

Craig Claiborne is the food editor of the New York Times. And on the one of the radio programs he talked about his point of view on table manners.

As for him personally, he says that he would never go in public with dirty fingernails and without brushing his teeth. He likes a casual life-style, and he leads it, he can laugh as hard as anybody else about a good dirty joke.

He thinks that when you are at table, there are so many nice things that can be done but that are ignored by the masses of people when they do entertain. For example, you should never put candles on a table that will impair the flow of vision. If your partner and you are sitting opposite each other, the candles should be low enough for you to look at each other — in each other's eyes — without having vision marred by the candle flame.

What about flowers on the table, there should be an arrangement low enough for you not to have to peek-a-boo, looking around the flower arrangement to see each other.

Craig Claiborne pays a lot of attention on wine service. When he sees people setting a table taking their fingers inside a glass in order to put them on the table, they put their fingers on the rim; he thinks that it is not only unsightly, but also it's terribly unsanitary.

You can hold the wine glass by the stem, and you should never touch that rim with another part of your body except your lips.

There's one thing that bothers him and you can hear it everywhere. Someone will come up and say, “Would you care for a glass of wine, or do you like champagne?” That is the most annoying thing he can imagine. It's also one important thing when you pour wine: you should always hold the wine bottle by the label, because if it's a red wine especially and if it drips down unless you’ve got that label held firmly in your hand the wine's going to drip down onto the label, and it's very unsightly again.

You should always show the label of the wine to your guests before they start to drink.

It is only a small part of what you need to know about table manners.
