19. Talk about the relationships between Jerusha and her guardian
Jerusha was surprised that somebody had taken an interest in her after these years in the John Grier home and she was thinking a great deal about the trustee. She had a feeling as thought she had found a sort of family. Although she had never met this man and knew just three things about him, he was the only one in the world who she knew. The girl became to call him Daddy-Long-Legs as he was very tall. In her letters to Daddy Jerusha was very sincere and always told the truth. Moreover it was important to her what he thought about her. Jerusha hated his secretary because he sometimes replied to her on behalf of Daddy. She always wanted Daddy to talk to her because she felt lonely. She said she must love somebody but there were only Daddy and Mrs. Lippett to choose between and she couldn’t love her. Jerusha was extremely happy when Daddy sent her presents because she had never received them before.
Jerusha was worried that she wouldn’t live up to his expectations and wouldn’t be a great author. So she worked hard all the time to please him.
Judy was especially hurt and offended when Daddy didn’t let her go to the McBrides’ camp as she couldn’t see any reason. She wished also that he’d sometimes send her a message because she was so awfully lonely and needed someone in her life. It was very humiliating to be ordered by an invisible provident.
Judy was confused when Daddy told her not to accept the scholarship she had been offered. She just didn’t understand that. Luckily for her she had already accepted it when Daddy wrote to her. Judy wanted to be more independent. Moreover she was going to return the trustee all the money he had given for her education. She was stubborn and persistent. And had always loved to write to her Daddy because he represented whole family for her.
20. Describe Jerusha’s personality
Jerusha had an imagination - an imagination, Mrs. Lippett told her, that would get her into trouble if she didn't take care — but keen as it was, it could not carry her beyond the front porch of the houses she would enter. Poor, eager, adventurous little Jerusha, in all her seventeen years, had never stepped inside an ordinary house; she could not picture the daily routine of those other human beings who carried on their lives undiscommoded by orphans. She was by nature a sunny soul, and had always snatched the tiniest excuse to be amused.
She is very live, direct girl, with strong and independent character. In the childhood remained the orphan, she has got used to rely on her own forces.
Despite the strong character, she was afraid of many things. Having arrived in college, at first she could open only to the Daddy-Long-Legs therefore as didn't want that somebody has learned about her origin. She represented the uncle both as the grandmother, and as parents, and as brother. Because everybody discussed their families. She didn't want to be allocated. Jerusha was very reasonable and in spite of the fact that she constantly repeated to the uncle that she has badly brought up, she has been brought up well.
Separately it is necessary to direct attention and to how she behaved with persons of an opposite sex. The first strong love has occurred to it just on pages of this book. It was Jervis Pendleton who has consequently appeared Daddy-Long-Legs. She was so worried, though tried not to give a sign. It is also told us about her character.
Jerusha Abbott is a very interesting character. And she combines many strong qualities of the human. They have helped it to survive in such hard conditions in an asylum.
