Частина 3

1. The Internet is a vast interconnection of computer networks that extends the globe. It is comprised of millions computers that connect and share massive volumes of information. .

The Internet contains many layers of information, with each layer dedicated to a different kind of documentation. These different layers are called 'protocols'. The most popular protocols are the World Wide Web, FTP, Telnet, instant messaging, and email.

The World Wide Web, or 'Web' for short, is the most popular portion of the Internet. The Web is viewed through web browser software, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox.

2. A program or group of programs designed for end users. Application software can be divided into two general classes: systems software and applications software. Systems software consists of low-level programs that interact with the computer at a very basic level. This includes operating systems, compilers, and utilities for managing computer resources.

In contrast, applications software includes database programs, word processors, and spreadsheets. Figuratively speaking, applications software sits on top of systems software because it is unable to run without the operating system and system utilities.

Examples would be games, word processors (such as Microsoft Word), and media players.

3. 1) The processor in a personal computer is also known as the Central Processing Unit (CPU), and you can think of it as the PC's "brain". The processor tells your computer what to do and when to do it, it decides which tasks are more important and prioritizes them to your computers needs.

The processor in a personal computer or embedded in small devices is often called a microprocessor.
