My Future Profession

Personally I study at the accounting and finance department of our University which was founded in 1999. The teaching stuff numbers about 60 people, 6 of them are professors and 40 are associate professors. The total student body is 900 people.

A modem building with computer system of teaching, lecture halls, winter garden are at the disposal of students. Special courses are delivered by the leading professors from Germany and the USA, as well as young teachers who had theoretical and practical training abroad. The major subjects are mathematics, information processing and cybernetics, foreign languages.

This speciality requires deep knowledge and all our abilities. Accounting is very important in country's economy. Specialists in this field work as chief accountants, auditors, tax inspectors, bank employees at the state, private enterprises and joint ventures of all spheres of economic activity.

That’s why we should not only count fast, but also can work with computer, be attentive, responsible and easy to deal with. So we should know maths, economy, computers, accounting, taxation,etc. And, of course, we need foreign language, because there are a lot of interesting and important articles on our speciality in English, for example, in "All About Accounting". So, I think we should work hard to be professionals.

Learning Foreign Languages

Nowadays it is especially important to know foreign languages. Some people learn languages because they need them for their work, others for travel abroad, for the third studying languages is a hobby. People want to learn foreign languages to write to their pen-friends, or to communicate with them personally. People also want to read the works written by famous writers, newspapers and magazines in the original. Knowledge of foreign languages makes your outlook wider. It has always been a sign of high culture and erudition.

During the classes of foreign languages one can train his memory and thinking. A foreign language helps to know the native language better. A person, who learns a foreign language, gets acquainted with the culture of the country, its literature, history and geography.

I think that knowledge of foreign languages makes me an educated and intelligent person.

Learning a foreign language is not an easy thing. It is a long and slow process that takes a lot of time and effort. First of all one must work hard and regularly to learn any foreign language. It is well-known that doing a lot of grammar exercises will improve your language skills and habits. English books, newspapers and magazines in English will enrich your vocabulary. Listening to the BBC News, the broadcast of the radio programmes and following a TV language programme will help you a lot. The speech of native speakers of English serves a good example you should follow. And, there is no doubt, one of the most efficient ways of learning foreign languages is attending lessons in a language laboratory. Listening to different cassettes, imitating the sounds and intonation of native speakers of English will improve your pronunciation. It can be very useful for a language learner to communicate with native speakers of English, visiting your country or, if it is possible, to go abroad to study at the language courses.
