10. Integrated inertial systems with optimal sygnal processing

High-precision inertial systems are important navigation tool on the long routes, which can take the place of flight navigator. That is why high requirements are raised to their reliability. To implement such requirements up to three sets of inertial systems can be installed on heavy airplanes. At the same time with the help of modern computers it is possible to increase accuracy of inertial systems not at the cost of super precise inertial elements (accelerometers and gyros), but owing to methods of optimal processing (filtration). Method of integrated information processing (IIP) stipulates consecutive solving of navigational equations using signals from several navigational sensors. With the help of optimal filtration it is possible to make the following procedures:

    1. random error analysis is implemented with the help of all the data about their change dynamics and statistics of error sources;

    2. system errors are estimated using weight coefficients for signal from different navigation sensors. As such sensors we can use Doppler navigator of speed and drift, receivers of short- range and long-range radio navigation systems, receivers of satellite navigation systems, altimeters.

Interconnecting of navigation sensors, based on different physical principles, gives possibility to eliminate accumulative errors of inertial systems. In addition to that usage of modern computers allows significant reducing fluctuations in readings of radio and optical systems.
