Beltelecom

The Republican Unitary Telecommunication Enterprise (RUE) Beltelecom ( Republican State Association before August 1, 2004 ) was founded in 1995. Beltelecom is the largest company in the sector of electrical communications in Belarus. Being a National Telecommunications Operator of the Republic of Belarus it provides to companies and citizens the services of local, inter-city and international telephone, telegraph and telematic communications. Beltelecom is the primary Internet provider in Belarus offering access to international and national resources on the Internet, and lease of international digital groups and circuits of any capacity.

Beltelecom incorporates:

Minsk Local Telephone Network;

Republican Trunk Exchange;

State-owned Enterprise "Long Distance Communication";

Minsk Telegraph and Telephone Exchange;

State-owned Telecommunications entities (in Minsk, Brest, Vitebsk, Gomel, Grodno and Mogilev regions).

Beltelecom has established new relationships with every enterprise incorporated. It has completed several large projects such as construction of Teleport, a complex of earth satellite stations, used to provide international satellite TV and radio channels, put­ting an international telex exchange into service, expansion of the digital overlay network.

Expansion of the BELPAK data network, the Internet division of Beltelecom, improves the access to the Internet in Belarus.

Meeting the de­mand for telephone lines has always been the focus of attention in Beltelecom. This is the major telecom service in demand.

For the years that passed, the enterprise has installed a telecommunication network covering the territory of the country. A fiber optic backbone network connects all mobile operators in the country to international exchange offering national and international roaming with neighboring countries.

Beltelecom is currently deeply involved in developing radically new telecommunication services. The enterprise provides for delivery of long distance and international traffic.

Beltelecom has carried out a large volume of work for:

- expanding the capacity of local and rural networks by using domestic and imported equipment:

- putting into service many kms. of international fiber optic line;

- completing a computer-aided time charging system (APUS) in regional and district centres;

- completing the digital overlay network expansion;

- social recreational and housing projects.

Thanks to Beltelecom Belarus, a new European state situated between the West and Russia, has become the very link in the world of communi­cation that ties the West and East Europe and other regions.

Beltelecom established ten years ago has achieved its objective of providing telecommunication services of high quality in short time in the Republic of Belarus.
