Shanghai.
Shanghai, also named «Hu» or «Shen» in short, is situated in the middle of China’s east coastline. It occupies an area of 6.341 sq.km. with a total residential population of 16 million people. It has a pleasant Climate, with four distinct seasons. The average temperature is around 18°C.
Shanghai is a famous historical and cultural city. It is the largest economic center and the leading port in China.
Shanghai is well-known in the world not only for its prosperous trade but also for its cosmopolitan feature. In recent years, a number of modern buildings have been added to the city, such as the Oriental Pearl TV Tower Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Stadium, Shanghai Library, Grand Theatre, Circus City and Jin Mao Tower. They have become new scenic sights in Shanghai. Colourful festivities, like Shanghai Tourism Festival and International Art Festival, have attracted an increasing number of tourists from home and overseas.
Shanghai’s tourist infrastructure is getting more and more accomplished. There are 40 international and 477 domestic travel services and 257 star-rated hotels with more than 36,000 quest rooms.
The Bund is a symbol of Shanghai. On one side of the broad highway stand 52 blocks of tall magnificent buildings of different kinds, which can be called a museum of modern world architecture. On the other side, is the wide embankment, where crowds of visitors come to enjoy a beautiful view ofc the Huangpu - the mother river of Shanghai.
Shanghai is an ideal «paradise for shoppers». There are a lot of commercial streets and shopping areas. The most popular of them is Nanjing Road. It has the reputation of «china’s Street № 1».
Shanghai is also a paradise for gourmets. There are over a thousand restaurants serving 16 different Chinese styles of food. In Shanghai, one can taste all the delicacies of the world. There are restaurants serving French, Russian, Italian, Japanese and other national cuisins.
Shanghai is well developed in communications by land, water and air. It is open to tourists from all over the world.
