1.the division between stems disappeared;
2.gender also disappeared;
3.the 4 cases is simplified to&case simpl.common&possessive starting with hade ME period(14-15cent)the noun system strongly resembles the ModEng system of nouns:1.The phonetic;the reduction of final ending their living do –e&its further dissapearence;2.the growing number of prepositions which functions like case endings;3.the gradual fixation of word order in ME;4.the scand-n influence which was especially strong in NE period in East-Central part of Engl&a lot of changes started just there.

Had 3 elements structure:-root;-stand-building suffix;-ending;there were 4 roots&3 genders.Roots: a-stem(ja,wa;M,N gender),o-stem(jo,wo;F gender),u-stem(M,F gender),j-stem(M,F,N gender).Gender disappeared as the category in the 1st half of the MidEngl period.Number has proved to be the most stable grammat category,with 1 significant difference,in NE the noun has plural ending-es.Changes:1.the division into stems disappeared;2.gender disappeared;3.the 4 cases system simplified into 2 cases(common&possessive).

Had the double system of declinations:accord to the weak&strong declencion.The choice of decl dependede on:the preceding pronouns,the syntactical function of the aject,the degree of compar.adj in the comp&superlat degrees were declined as weak(were used when the adj was preceded by a demonstr pronoun).

Positive,comparative&superlative-the degrees of comparison.Comparative&superlative degrees had suffixes –ra,-est(-ost).Some adj-s had parallel sets of forms:with&without a vowel interchange(soft-softra-softost-soft)

Personal pronouns had 3 persons,3 numbers in the 1st&2nd,&3 genders in the 3rd person.

The ethimological structure of words stock was rather homorgeneous.Many words saved:names of human body(nose),animal,plants(mouse,cow),verbs(know,lie),pronouns(I,me),prepositions 1/3was of common Germanic origin.3 types of assimilation:1.graphical;2.grammatical;3.semantic; The contribution was made by Dutch,Italy,Spanish,Russian,French-uncle,war,dinner,dress;Scand-sky,queen,anger,skin.

The OE verb,like the noun&adj-e,was highly changeable part of speech&all its grammatical categories were expressed with the help of inflexions.
CATEGORIES:
Finite forms had 4 cat-s,2 tences(presenr&past),3 moods(indicative,subjunctive,imperative),3 persons&2 numbers.
MORPHOLOGICAL TYPES:there were 4 for the OE verb:strong verbs(300),weak verbs(900),preterite-present(12),anomalous(4).
