My working day
On weekdays the alarm clock wakes me up and my working day begins. It is 7 o’clock. I am not so quick to leave my bed, as I am not an early riser. But all the same it is time to get up.
First of all, I open the window wide to let the fresh air in. Then I switch on the radio and do my morning exercises to the music. Fresh air, morning jerks and good music set me into a cheerful working mood. Then I do my bed and go to the bathroom where I have a bath or a shower, clean my teeth and do my hair. If I am not short of time, I sweep the floor and dust the furniture.
Soon I am ready to have my breakfast. Breakfast, as doctors say, must be the most substantial meal of the day. But I have neither time nor inclination to cook it, so my breakfast is usually light and quick. It is a cup of tea or coffee, with some sandwiches and jam.
At 7.30 I leave for the University. The hostel is not far from it that is why I go there on foot or take a bus sometimes. It takes me 15 minutes to get to the University. Our classes begin at 8 sharp, so I have about 10 or 15 minutes to meet with my friends and to chat a little.
Usually we have 3 lessons a day, which are over at about 1 p.m. After classes I go to the refectory where I have 3-course dinner: soup, beefsteak with potatoes or noodles and vegetable or meat salad, a glass of milk, fruit juice or coffee with a biscuit or a pie. When dinner is over I go to the reading-room to prepare for the next day’s lessons.
At home I have a snack and take a short rest. Then I go for a walk with my friends, go to the cinema or theatre or read interesting books. Most of the students go in for sports and I am not an exception, of course. We play volleyball or basketball; in winter we ski or skate. Twice a week I take part in the amateur singing group.
I have my supper at 7 o’clock. For supper I have roast or mashed potato with fish or macaroni with bacon, boiled egg or salad for a change and a cup of tea with biscuits. Then I watch TV and at half past 11 I go to bed. Usually I fall asleep at once as I feel very tired by the end of the day.
