3. Operation modes

The generator provides the following operation modes:

- aggregate runaway to 3000 rpm by frequency start of the generator in the mode of ac converter-fed motor from the frequency converter with the excitation from a noncontact starting device;

- aggregate operation under deviation of voltage and frequency of supply main in prescribed limits keeping the nominal value of capacity;

- overloads of stator and rotor currents;

- connection to the net under disfunction of synchronization conditions with the phase shift of 120 º el (not more than 5 times per operation period);

- asynchronous mode of operation under the loss of excitation.

The proposed generator has been developed for the first time, but nevertheless, taking into account available production and operation experience of generators at heat and nuclear plants, and results of performed investigations, the development of an effective vertical helium-cooled generator for new-generation NPPs could be considered as possible one. At that, taking into account distinctive features of its design it seems to be advisable to exam electromagnet suspension of generator, winding insulation reliability in the medium of gaseous helium of increased pressure, and hermetic lead-outs of stator winding experimentally.
