About the Authors

LOU SCHULER is a certified strength and conditioning specialist and author or coauthor of The Book of Muscle, Home Workout Bible, and The Testosterone Advantage

Plan. A health and fitness journalist since 1992, he has worked as fitness editor at Men’s Fitness and fitness director of Men’s Health, and won the National Magazine Award in 2004 for his article “Death by Exercise.” He lives in Allentown, Pennsylvania, with his wife and three children, and on most days he updates Male Pattern Fitness, his weblog at louschuler.com.

ALWYN COSGROVE is co-owner, with his wife, Rachel, of Results Fitness in Newhall, California. A native of Scotland, he has an honors degree in sports science from Chester College, the University of Liverpool, and was a European tae kwon do champion. During his fifteen-year career as a strength and conditioning coach, Cosgrove has earned virtually every major certification and has worked with Olympicand nationallevel athletes, world champions, and professionals in boxing, martial arts, soccer,
