How to express disapproval:

  • Not bad.

  • That won’t do.

  • You didn’t try.

  • You’ve made a mistake (a gross mistake).

  • You could have done (might have done) it better.

  • I am displeased / dissatisfied with your answer.

  • You must work hard at your pronunciation / grammar.

  • Grammar is your weak point, I’m afraid.

  • Be more active.

  • Correct your mistakes. / Do the correction of your mistakes.

  • That won’t do. You must rewrite it.
