Grammar Material The Past Continuous Tense (Прошедшее длительное время)

Past Continuous образуется при помощи вспомогательного глагола to be в форме прошедшего времени (was, were) и формы причастия настоящего времени (Present Participle) смыслового глагола:

e.g. I was working. - Я работал. We were working. – Мы работали.

В вопросительной форме вспомогательный глагол ставится перед подлежащим:

e.g. Was I working? – Я работал? Were you working? – Ты работал?

Отрицательная форма образуется при помощи частицы not, которая ставится после вспомогательного глагола:

e.g. I was not working – Я не работал. We were not working. – Мы не работали.
