§ 18 Children's hospital

Children hospital is dedicated to providing quality health care for its patients. Many doctors, nurses and other professional staff members are involved in patient care at the hospital. Since Children hospital is a teaching hospital, students in all phases of health care training may also be attending or observing the child. On admission, parents and their child will be asked by professionals for detailed medical information about the present illness, past illness, medications. Medical information obtained from all manipulations are written in the patients medical record. This record assists the health team in comprehensive health care to the child. A physician will explain the child diagnosis, possible courses of treatment. The attending physician will notify the parents as soon as it is known when the child is ready to go home. The family will be given instructions on medication. Following discharge doctor recommended treatment plan.

§ 19. Drugs

Pharmacy is the science which treats of medicinal substances. Pharmacology the first one is die science of drugs, the second deals with the history, source, cultivation, distribution of drugs of vegetable and animal origin. Manufacturers are also legally required to provide data sheets for all new drugs, giving full details of usage.

Drugs may be administered externally or internally.

Drugs are classified into groups which have a specific action.

There are strict legal requirements for the purchase, storage, use, identification, dispensing and prescription of drugs.Many drugs are poisonous if taken accidentally or in excess.

Antibiotics are drugs originally derived from microorganisms for example, penicillins, tetracyclines and erythromycin.

§ 20. Environmental protection

Humans have become so numerous and our tools so powerful that we have driven fellow creatures to extinction.

We are really one with nature, our planet and the Universe.

Unfortunately, our technical civilization thinking only of material goods succeeded in destroying Nature and creating the ecological crisis on our planet.

Overpopulation, pollution and energy consumption have created such planet w »de problems as massive deforestation, ozone depletion, acid rains and the global warming. The seas are in danger.

People are beginning to realize that environmental problems are not somebody elses. And it must be the challenge of all people to restore an ecological balance on the Earth.

PAVLOV

Pavlov was born in Ryazan. At the age of eleven he was send to a parish school from which he passed to the Theological Seminary. At the age of 15 Pavlov became interested in physiology. In 1870 to enter the University of St. Petersburg, His first scientific investigation concerned the pancreatic nerves. On returning to Petersburg Pavlov became an assistant of professor Botkin. He carried out his famous experiments with the cardiac nerves. After 20 years Pavlov began to study the functions of the brain. Pavlov whole life was devoted to science. His rare memory was simply astonishing.
