    1. Career management

Since Nestle is oriented on long-term relationships with employees, the company focuses it attention on career planning for each employee. To maintain the relationship for a long time it is needed not only to find, hire and train, but also to attract and retain. In Nestle it is a primary responsibility for all managers. Building a career in a company based on the principle of sustainable development. Therefore, by the way, the potential for professional development is an essential standard for recruitment. “Each new member joining Nestlé is to become a participant in developing a sustainable quality culture which implies a commitment to the organization, a sense for continuous improvement and leaves no place for complacency”31.

The career planning is in the responsibility of each manager, because it is he who thing about his subordinates, plan their promotion, trainings and education. That is why for managerial positions specific leadership qualities and business acumen are required. For many position there is the career staircase for internal candidates. Nevertheless there are many candidates coming from outside of the company. Even when promoting employees intensively from within the organization, it is the role of management and HR to keep an eye on valuable candidates from outside and to Benchmark internal skills with external offers.

Moreover Nestle invest a lot into employees life outside of the office. There is a number of local and international programs dedicated to the issue of work-life balance, because it helps not only retain staff, reinforce employee’s satisfaction, loyalty and enhance productivity but also because it positively reflects on the Company’s reputation. For example, Nestle supports active life style and provide enough opportunities for employees to enjoy it. Company encourages all employees to pursue interests outside the workplace. And since sport is popular and favorite, most Nestle units has at least one football team. The other sports vary according to the country concerned. In several countries the company supports cultural activities and home study programs. A recent survey counted more than 50 societies and clubs of one kind or another among Nestle employees32. In the same spirit, Nestlé provides flexible working Conditions whenever possible and provides its employees to have interests and motivations outside work.

Furthermore, Nestle is often called a Family & Female-Friendly Organization. Since diversity and equivalence is one of the main principles, there are many female employees in the company. Female employees and their employees' families know that Nestlé has a friendly and caring attitude. Company recently set up a day-care centre, and have established a comprehensive Maternity Benefits Scheme for female employees.

Particular attention is paid to preretirement and retirement process. The main reason for it is that there are many employees who used to work for Nestle for most of their working life and company feels a special responsibility for them. It organizes preretirement classes and facilities for retiree activities are available in many countries. One of the clubs is located near HQ in Vevey, Switzerland. It organizes a regular program of events ranging from climbing, skiing and cycling to foreign travel, fitness and computer classes. In addition, several of them take part in local volunteer projects such as delivering meals to other Nestle retirees in the region33.
