Practical example of an Agenda –Outline

  1. Welcome and Positive Presentation. The Assembly is the effective celebration or the People’s Power.

  2. Summary of consensus reached and pending subjects from the previous assembly.

  3. Presentation of the Dynamisation team for the day. Role of each person.

  4. Explanation of the “Assembly” concept. “We do not vote, we reach consensus”.

  5. Explanation of the “Consensus” concept (direct and indirect). Explanation of the process to reach indirect consensus.

  6. Exemplification of the Speaking Time Coordination and Facilitation during the assembly.

  7. Reminder of the “Common Signs” for the common expression and suggestions for verbal expression in line with consensus reached by the M15M General Assembly.

  8. Informative reading of the Agenda.

  9. Turn for the Commissions and Working Groups who have NO proposals that need Assembly consensus. It is desirable that a spokesperson of each Commission and Working Group attends a previous preparation meeting in order to organise the agenda points better.

  10. Turn for the Commissions and Working Groups WITH proposals for the Assembly. If direct consensus is not reached a speaking turn for argumentation is opened. Remember: there is a maximum of two rounds of debate (groups of three) to defend each position and/or finding a common point. In heated debates there is a possibility to create a space for the communal reflexion and if, after two rounds, consensus has not been reached the proposal will be kept for the next Assembly. SPEAKING TURNS TO DEBATE- RESOLUTIONS/ POSTPONEMENT.

  11. IMPORTANT NOTIFICATIONS. Summons, general interest information, latest news, etc.

  12. ANY OTHER AGENDA ITEMS (AOI) round. During this round speaking time debate turns will not be open. It is either information that can be ratified straight away or it is directly passed on to the relevant Commission or Working Group. (ATTENTION! Before announcing the close of the speaking time of AOI, if this is necessary due to tiredness or time constraints, those Assembly People will be notified and given priority for the next Assembly AOI speaking turns.

  13. Conclusions and summons for the next Assembly.

  14. Motivation message and reminder of what gets us together. This section could include a singular expression to end on a positive note: the reading of a poem, a piece of news, and inspiring text, etc.

  15. Good bye and thanks. (+ SHORT ENCOURAGING MESSAGE. COMMON CONSCIENCE. CHEERING UP)

REFLEXIÓN ABIERTA SOBRE ALGUNOS CONTENIDOS TEÓRICOS OPENED THOUGHTS ABOUT SOME THEORICAL CONTENTS

What is the horizontal organization?

It’s a way of social organization that implies the equality of every person participating inside a group or society. Hierarchy doesn’t exist and it’s opposed to the vertical organization where some people make the decisions whilst others comply with them.

The method used in the way of horizontal organization of a society or group is the assembly method.
