Exercise 18. A letter of applying for a job doesn’t have any grammar mistakes. Yet, there are some other mistakes in it.
Example.
— The style is too informal.
— There are some punctuation mistakes.
— It contains abundance of information.
— Address, salutation and name of the sender take the wrong place.
— Look through the letter, correct the mistakes and offer the variant, which follows all the norms of writing formal letters.

Dear P Bradley,
I was reading a magazine the other day – I think it was the February edition of sunshine holidays, and I saw your advertisement for travel couriers, and I thought I’d really like a job like that.
You see, I’ve got a degree in modern languages from bristol university, and I speak lots of languages-french german spanish and just a little bit of greek too. I’ve been to all sorts of places in europe.
Last tear me and my friend Paul went camping in France and Italy, and we saw the museums and all the places like that. I think I’d be really good at showing people round these places, well I’d really like the chance to try anyway. I’m not doing anything at the moment, so I could come and see you anytime.
Just give me a ring – 381229.
I’m looking forward to meeting you.
Yours, James.
Exercise 19. Divide the letter into extracts and rewrite it in accordance with the style( including punctuation).

Rua Luis de Deus 18.3000 Coimbra, Portugal. 29th March 2000. The Principal, The Oxford English College, 234 Hilton Rd, Eastbourne BN4 3UA. Dear Sir or Madam, I saw your advertisement for English classes in this month's English Today magazine and I am interested in coming to your school this summer. I have studied English for three years but I have never been to England and I feel that this is now necessary, especially to improve my pronunciation. Please could you send me more information about your courses, and an application form? I would also like some information about accommodation. I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible. Yours faithfully, Ana Maria Fernandes.
