Family relations

Family is an emotional center of people’s life. Every mother feels great affection for her children and tries to bring them up in a proper way. Understanding between the members of the family relations. Tenderness, warm-heartedness and respect must always be present in the family to make it friendly. A lot of activities help members of the family t be on friendly terms: visiting museums, theaters, exhibitions and exchanging opinions about them, sharing the same joys and sorrows. If you think of the others in the family you show your love and attention in everyday life. It’s very important to visit relatives on holidays, on birthdays, on anniversaries and develop close relationship. We feel more affection for our relatives whet we are parted from them.

When the family is friendly, everybody has the warm feelings of returning home where relatives are waiting for them. There are different opinions on how children should be treated if they disobey their parents, break the rules, do forbidden things, don’t keep their words or promises. Some people think that parents should be patient, kind and understanding. The rules and children’s behaviors are discussing in such families. But others believe that children ought always to obey the parents and if they won’t they should be punished. From my point of view, such principles won’t do a lot of good. Fear and punishment will lead to selfishness, cruelty and lies. But “love and kindness will save the world”.

I live with my mother. We don’t have such problems as misunderstanding between the members of the family. My mother is 40 years old. She is a lawyer. She is kind, clever and responsible woman. My mother is always ready to give me necessary information, a good advice and moral support.

I’m very happy to have a room for myself, where I feel quite comfortable. It is a place where I can relax, read a book and listen to music. There are a lot of things in my room which can tell about myself, about my friends and relatives. You can find frames with photos of my parents and best friends on the walls. They remind me happy moments of my life. Every Sunday my mother makes a cake and we gather together, discuss our problems and make plans for the next week. I mean people, who are dear to me, who love me and are always waiting for me. that is why, wherever I am I always hurry home.

Housing

There are many kinds of dwelling. Different people prefer different housing. For example, size of the house for some people is more important than location. The most popular kinds of dwelling are bungalow , a cottage , a detached house, a hut, blocs of flats, mansions, etc. They all h a roof thave some advantages and disadvantages. Bungalow – a house on one level, often with a roof that doesn’t slope much. Such houses are traditionally small with only one story.  Cottage – a house, usually in a village or in the countryside. A cottage is usually a modest, often cosy dwelling, typically in a rural location. However there are cottage-style dwellings in cities, too. Detached house – a house that is joined to another house. It’s a free-standing residential building. Hut – a small simple shelter. Huts are quickly built of readily available materials such as ice, stone, glass. Blocks of flats – a building that consists of different levels and has several flats on each level. Comparison Belarusian and British kinds of dwelling Apartments in Belarus and in Britain have similarities and differences. In Belarus widely spread such kinds of dwelling as blocks of flats, cottages, dachas, etc. In Britain are popular duplex houses, terraced houses, cottages, etc. As we can see the preferences of Belarusians and British aren’t very different from each other. In general, type of dwelling depends of many factors such as location, size, preference of its owner. The dwelling of my dream My ideal home, I think, is a big house. For example, a cottage with the swimming pool situated at the backyard. I’d like to have four or five rooms. It must contain absolutely everything you need for everyday life: all the amenities (central heating, electricity, cold and hot water, telephone). The rooms must be spacious, well-proportioned, convenient with impressive overlook. The flat must be painted in bright colors. . I want my bedroom to be the lightest room in my house. It should have a big comfortable bed with bedside table near it. My sitting-room is a large room with a cosy settee and a fireplace opposite it where I can spend long winter evenings. I think there will be many decorative things such as vases, frames with photos, coffee table, pictures. The bathroom should be with a round bath. The kitchen is a room next to the bathroom. It includes all kitchen suit and many cupboards. Also I would like to have a pet in this house. A little fluffy kitten would be the best option.
