В этом разделе вы познакомитесь с лексикой, использующейся в рассказе о своем рабочем дне, и грамматическим материалом, а именно, временами глагола Present и Past Continuous. на более углубленном уровне. Вам предлагается сделать упражнения по этим темам, а также выполнить задания на развитие навыков говорения и письма.

My working day

I spend my week-days in a more or less ordinary way. In fact, I am very busy on my week-days. As a rule my classes at academy start at 8 o’clock in the morning so I get up early. My alarm clock wakes me up at 6.15 sharp.

Frankly speaking, I am not an early riser and it is difficult for me to get out of bed. It doesn’t take me long to I make my bed and after that go to the bathroom. I take a shower, brush my teeth and comb my hair. Then I have breakfast. Breakfast, as doctors say, must be the most substantial meal of the day. But I am always in a hurry in the morning, so I usually have some sandwiched or fried eggs and a cup of tea or coffee.

I leave for academy at half past seven. I catch a tram and it takes me 15 minutes to get to academy. On my way to academy I often meet my friends and we go on together. I am never late for my classes. As a rule we have one or two lectures and two practical classes. We have a lunch break from 12 to 1 o’clock. I have lunch in the canteen. Twice a week we have only 20 minutes for lunch and I have a quick snack in the buffet.

Our classes are usually over at 3.35 in the afternoon. Sometimes I stay at academy after classes because I need to study in the reading room. In the reading room there are always many students who read different books and articles or do their homework.

On my way home I often do some shopping. I don’t go by tram; I prefer to go on foot. When I come home, I have dinner at once because I am starving after classes. Then I wash up and relax for a while. I get down to my homework at about 6 p.m.. It takes me about 3 or 4 hours to do it. In the evening I have a light supper and watch TV or chat with my friends over the phone. Sometimes I go to the cinema or take a stroll round the neighbourhood with my friends. I go to bed at half past 11 o’clock.

Выражает действие, происходящее в момент речи, временное действие, действий, которые нас раздражают или происходят слишком часто:

I am writing a letter now.

She is always complaining!

Слова-указатели: (right) now, at the moment.

Запомните 1) следующие глаголы, выражающие чувства, восприятия и умственную деятельность и некоторые другие не употребляются во временах группы Continuous:

want – хотеть, like – нравиться, love – любить, hate – ненавидеть, see – видеть, hear - слышать, know – знать, understand – понимать, believe – верить, suppose – полагать, сonsist - состоять.

2) если глагол заканчивается на немую –е, то перед добавлением

-ing эта буква отбрасывается: write – writing. Последняя согласная удваивается, если передней находится один ударный гласный слог: stop-stopping. В глаголах, оканчивающихся на –ie, перед добавлением –ing –ie меняется на –y: die – dying.

Выражает действие, происходившее в определенный момент в прошлом; временных действий в прошлом; действий, которые раздражали нас в прошлом а также «параллельных действий», которые происходили одновременно .

Слова-указатели: at 7 p.m. yesterday; from 7 till/to 9 p.m. yesterday или глагол в Past Simple: I was writing at (1)5 p.m. yesterday.
